Britney Spears Enlists a Dream Team of Prominent Hollywood Lawyers for Legal Transition from Husband Sam Asghari
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari, her husband, have decided to part ways following 14 months of marriage. According to reliable sources at Variety, it’s been revealed that the pop icon is enlisting the expertise of a highly skilled group of Hollywood legal experts as she navigates the process of divorce.
Spears has enlisted the services of renowned celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser for her legal separation, and she remains in collaboration with her formidable lawyer, Mathew Rosengart. Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor acclaimed for successfully navigating her out of the conservatorship and liberating her from paternal influence, continues to be an instrumental part of her legal team, according to insider sources at Variety.
Asghari, recognized as a fitness instructor, model, and actor featured in TV series like “Black Monday” and “Hacks,” popped the question to Spears in September 2021. The duo officially tied the knot in June 2022, marking the culmination of over five years of dating. Their journey began on the set of Spears’ music video for “Slumber Party,” a track from her “Glory” album released in 2016.
A spokesperson on behalf of Asghari did not provide a response to Variety’s inquiry concerning the split.
At the time of her engagement to Asghari, Spears was still bound by a conservatorship. Nonetheless, she was steadily moving towards liberation from this legal arrangement. With Rosengart at the helm, determined and triumphant efforts were made to halt her father’s role through legal channels, marking the initial stride towards ultimately dismantling the conservatorship.
During the latter part of her 13-year conservatorship, Britney Spears testified, expressing her wish to marry Asghari and expand her family. She claimed that her conservators, led by her father Jamie Spears, exerted complete control over her finances and all aspects of her life, preventing her from making these personal decisions. In her plea to the judge in June 2021, Spears emphasized her desire to move forward in her life, aspiring to experience genuine marital bliss and motherhood. However, she asserted that her current conservatorship situation hindered her from pursuing these fundamental life choices.
Upon their engagement, legal analysts verified with Variety that within the confines of a conservatorship, the individual under conservatorship lacks the capacity to independently enter into agreements, making it necessary for conservators to grant approval for a marriage license. An attorney further clarified that due to her conservatorship status, she is not in a position to authorize the marriage license herself.
In the wake of her conservatorship’s conclusion in December 2021, Britney Spears saw a significant shift in her legal control. Following a 13-year span of restricted decision-making, the court bestowed upon her the authority to independently execute documents, marking a pivotal moment. Among her newfound privileges was the ability to grant approval for a marriage license, a right she hadn’t held for over a decade. Addressing the press outside the courthouse, Rosengart affirmed that she now possessed the autonomy to pursue her desires without constraints. Subsequently, approximately half a year later, the couple celebrated their union in marriage
Spears and Asghari have tied the knot in a close-knit celebration at Spears’ residence in Thousand Oaks, California. The private event witnessed approximately 60 attendees, among them notable personalities such as Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton. Notably absent from the gathering were her father, mother Lynn Spears, and sister Jamie Lynn Spears.
Spears’ union with Asghari marked her third marriage. The previous pair did not have any offspring from their relationship. In the lead-up to their wedding in February 2022, Spears and Asghari revealed the joyful news of her pregnancy in April 2022. Sadly, the following month saw the songstress sharing the heartbreaking revelation of her miscarriage.
The renowned celebrity is a mother to two teenage sons, Sean and Jayden, born during her marriage to Kevin Federline, a former backup dancer whom she wed in 2004 and divorced in 2007. Together, they were featured in a short-lived reality series titled “Britney and Kevin: Chaotic” in 2005. Prior to Federline, the artist’s initial marriage was to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander. This union lasted a mere 55 hours before being annulled in 2004. Fast forward to 2022, Alexander made headlines once again by crashing Spears’ wedding to Asghari, leading to his arrest for trespassing at her residence.
Spears and Wasser have collaborated previously during her custody battle with Federline over their two children. This isn’t the initial instance of the “Baby One More Time” vocalist seeking the services of this lawyer. Known for representing A-list figures in their well-publicized divorces, Wasser’s client roster has included Kim Kardashian, Kevin Costner, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, and others.
Regarding Spears’ recent career developments, the pop sensation has unveiled a pair of tracks following the conclusion of her conservatorship. One collaboration, titled “Stay Near,” features Elton John, while the other, “Stay in Line,” showcases her partnership with will.i.am. Additionally, in the upcoming month of October, fans can look forward to the launch of a much-awaited, revelatory autobiography by Spears. This project marks a significant milestone as she secured a groundbreaking, multimillion-dollar publishing agreement for the memoir.
